Recovering Irma

production

As of May 2012, my project is officially in production. We shot additional interviews in San Francisco with my Aunt Rose, Uncle Charlie, Cousin Chuck, and me. We also shot day-in-the-life footage, so my editor and I can cut scenes together and “show” more of the story. I am in the process of having the interviews transcribed, and plan to have a new work-in-progress cut to submit in the next two months.

Ray Telles has stepped on as my executive producer. He is also assisting me with the new work-in-progress cut. I met with Gemma Cubero (Ella Es El Matador), and she has agreed to join the team as my new co-producer. Gemma and I are currently establishing our working relationship, and I’m really excited to be working with her. She will work as my field producer when I am on-camera, but not when I’m off-camera. I have also been rounding out my production advisory board, and have since added filmmaker Chico Colvard (Family Affair) as a new member.

We are currently prepping an extensive social media, marketing, and PR campaign for our large-scale Kickstarter fundraising campaign. I hired Chris Olenik, the person behind the most successful Kickstarter film fundraising campaign to date. The campaign will take place in July/August 2012.  Our goal is to raise the money necessary to shoot the road trip portion of the film in fall 2012.
